On Thursday 4 October 2018, the municipality of Rotterdam and Heijmans signed a ‘development agreement’ for the new Havenkwartier project in Katendrecht. This was the last formality and means work can start very shortly!
An information meeting will be held before the end of this year (mid-December), where we will be pleased to discuss this special development.
The Havenkwartier project involves developing and realising 200 owner-occupied homes in the Maashaven area of Katendrecht. The project is worth circa €90 million and consists of 36 town houses and an apartment complex featuring 164 homes, of which 14 are ‘hangar homes’ on the ground floor.
All homes, which vary in surface area between 75 and 250 m2, are energy-efficient and will have their own outdoor space. Heijmans is also creating commercial space on the ground floor, as well as a car park with bike storage facilities.
Diverse living options and space for green features
The design by VMX architects has taken into account the living needs of residents of all ages. This means realising three and four storey town houses, as well as several smaller apartments, maisonettes and penthouses.
Ample space has also been created for green features. The roof of the car park, as well as the 7th storey of the apartment complex, will feature two spacious roof gardens which can be used by all residents. In addition, most town houses will also have their own garden.
Sales are expected to start in the first half of 2019 and construction activities expected to start by the end of the year. We will be organising the first meeting in mid-December 2018; further information about this will follow shortly.
